It's FALL!

1. Yung Squared Julia Trench

There was a time when all we wanted was a classic camel-toned trench. So what did we do? This was back in 2010 when we were broke college girls studying abroad in London so we went to Zara. We wore the trenches we got once in Paris and it was less about the quality and more about it not being *us* as much as we so wanted them to be us. It felt like we were living out a fantasy that should have stayed a fantasy.

So after that we got over the trench completely and gave up our dream of owning a coveted Burberry design. Then Priyanka Chopra stuns on the Met Gala red carpet in her trench gown and were like: we need a trench ASAP. After a months-long hunt, we finally find the perfect trench.

There’s an up-and-coming Canadian brand YUNG ² designed by Allysha Yung and we promise you’re going to thank us for introducing you. Everything from the quality of the jacket to the sleek beautiful packaging, this is a brand you’ll going to quickly be as obsessed with as we are. Everything is made and designed in Canada, which we love, and is a collection of versatile, feminine pieces that fuse raw sex appeal with understated glamour so in a few seconds you look effortlessly put together.

The Julia Trench Coat is perfect because no matter if your five-ten or five-two it’s designed to look great on you and flatter your figure. But can we talk the color? We have it in taupe, but it’s more of a pinky-blush tone and is so gorgeous with nude or black heels. Belted it’s a super sophisticated statement garment without being too pretentious. Unbelted it puts you just on the right side of irreverent and you look like you didn’t try at all but still look crazy chic. The fabric is 100% satin and feels as dreamy as it sounds. It’s heavy enough to keep the chill away if you’re going out at night, but also is the perfect layering piece. It’s also cut thoughtfully so that you have some room in the shoulders once you have a layer underneath.

2.  DP Hue ACV Rinse

We’d been wanting to incorporate some apple cider vinegar into our haircare routine for the longest because of all the benefits we’d read about. Rinsing with ACV regularly is perfect to being your scalp and hair to its ideal level of acidity because it’s naturally high in acetic acid and has a pH level that’s almost identical to human hair. (By the way, the acetic acid is a antimicrobial that helps prevent hair loss and dandruff because it kills bacteria and fungus. We’ve also given up shampoos because they dry out and tangle our hair horrendously, but had heard that a little ACV was extremely clarifying and perfect to get rid of any product build up, especially near in the scalp. If that’s not enough, ACV rinses are classic for making your hair easier to detangle, control frizz, add shine and body to curls, prevent split ends and breakage, and reduce porosity. It’s basically the miracle natural solution to almost every hair problem no matter what your hair type is.

But, the big but, is that we could never get over the awful smell and stayed away from it despite the amazing potential benefits. We were so surprised that this product by DP Hue didn’t have such a pungent scent. The typical ACV smell is actually very subtle and carefully layered underneath a pleasant smell.

We use the rinse in place of shampooing on soaking wet hair. The bottle has a convenient pointy top so you can use the tip to guide parts in your hair and apply directly to your scalp and massage in. We leave it in for 3-5 minutes, massaging it in the scalp in the beginning, then working the remaining product through the strands. After we condition and rinse, we can see that the product buildup from the week (mainly layers of gel) is completely gone and the strands look beautifully healthy. We’re so excited to see the more long-term results as we stay consistent in using it.

You can definitely buy your own ACV and make a DIY version at home. But if you’d rather just pick something up and go, this is a great investment for your haircare routine.

3. Frank Body Glow Mask

Since we’re heading close to the edge (you know, thirty is a few years away) we’re starting to take anti-aging more seriously and of course that means staying properly moisturized is top of the priority list. It gets confusing sometimes when you have oily skin like us. After eight years of chronic breakouts due to oily skin we adopted the mindset that our skin was beyond moisturized and didn’t need any help. We would take it a step farther and would use super drying products like harsh astringents with heavy alcohol content thinking that this was the way to keep our pores clear and from over producing oil. But oily skin is actually a sign that your skin isn’t properly moisturized. So definitely consider a mask like this one even if you have oily or combination skin.

We used to be all about the perfect cream or emollient moisturizer and use it day and night. Then we got a littler more sophisticated and started buying separate creams, one for our morning routine and one for our night. Next came the time to start investing in hyaluronic-based serums. Then we gave up harsh, drying toners and went for hydrating ones that don’t strip away the good stuff. So it’s only sensible that now we’re all about hydrating face masks.

The best part of the Frank Body Glow Mask is that it’s one of the most convenient out there. You only need to wear it for five minutes, but you can definitely extend the amount of time you keep it in to fit your schedule like we do. If you’ve been keeping up with us on Instagram you’ll know that we use multiple masks per week. It’s actually our routine to mask while we workout. That way you’re not thinking about it too much and it’s perfect timing since masks are usually best left on for 15-20 mins.

We actually love to use this on the mornings after we use anything harsh like a targeted retinol cream or a drying enzyme mask, just to balance everything out.

4. Way Basics Cat Litter Cabinet

We’re just those types. Every inch of our apartment has to be photogenic, Pinterest-worthy. Aesthetics are spared nowhere in our place. We were searching all over for a chic litter box enclosure so it’s concealed stylishly, not only for aesthetic reasons but so the smell would be masked.

When we first saw this Modern White Cat Litter Cabinet online we could see it in our place perfectly, but the real reason we went for it was because of the functionality of the unit. It comes with a scratch pad where your fur baby will walk in and then turn to get to the box. Our kitties are obsessed with the scratch pad and we’re so happy because it’s the perfect spot for them to get rid of the excess litter from their paws before stepping onto the floor.

There is assembly required for this unit, but don’t freak out. You’ll have it set up in five minutes flat. We love that the unit is made from eco-friendly materials, however it’s important to note that it is cardboard covered in veneer, and is assembled with adhesive strips instead of screws, it’s not the most durable. It is scratch resistant though. So we think checking out Way Basics’s litter box cabinets are is ideal if you have a large space and have a spare litter box.

5. Finn & Co. Body Cream in White Sand

There are few things more enjoyable than rubbing a thick, luxurious body cream all over your body before you dress. You’re left with soft, supple skin and that satisfying moisturized feeling after it soaks in.

Not to mention, scented body moisturizers – be it a lotion, butter, oil, soufflé, cream, whatever – are optimal for long lasting fragrance because you have a rich, densely layered base that sinks directly into your skin. Also, not having the high alcohol content that most perfumes or colognes have (instead this body cream has things like Shea Butter, Vitamin E, jojoba oil and Aloe leaf extract) allows for a more concentrated scent that works alone or as a great first layer of scent. We find that the fragrance reveal itself slowly throughout the day as the mid and deeper notes mix with your skin.

We are in love with their White Sand signature scent. Just imagine hints of mandarin and honeysuckle, mixed with unexpectedly fresh notes of sea salt. It’s an invigorating, everyday type of scent that goes with everything, can be dressed up or toned down. FYI: all of Finn & Co.‘s body butters are paraben, sulfate, formaldehyde, phthalate, propylene glycol phosphate and cruelty free, and made in the USA.

6. Whole Clarity Deodorant

So happy to say that we’ve found another natural, vegan and cruelty-free deodorant that (actually) works. Whole Clarity has three scents to choose from – Lemon grass and Peppermint, Lavender and Unscented. Our favorite is the Unscented one. Weird? The texture is similar to Schmidt’s Deodorant if you’re familiar.

7. Baiser Beauty Healing Mist in Rose

You already know how we feel about facial mists, especially ones that are infused with rose. But this one is extra special. It combines the aromatherapy of essentials oils with quartz (there’s literally a small stone in every bottle). A bit of trivia for you: both the cells in our bodies and quartz crystals are made up of silicon dioxide, so we’re naturally receptive to their vibrations. Cool, huh? This is why quartz is said to have *magical* healing powers.

On a practical note, the mister on this three-ingredient spray is quite impressive. A lot of product comes out at once, but it’s a completely even spritz, so if you’re one of those people who hates when facial sprays are so concentrated they only spray in one spot, you won’t have that problem with this one. We also love that you can use it on multiple surfaces. Sometimes we spray it on our pillows before bed, and it’s so peaceful, and sometimes we even use it as a bathroom refresher.

8. Yarok Hair Conditioning Mask

Due to the sheer volume of new products we try, unless it’s already holy grail status, it’s very rare that we finish a product period. But when we finish it in a month, we know it’s a good and definitely something to consider repurchasing.

You probably already know that when it comes to our hair and skin, we take masking seriously. Very seriously. And we’re the types who will mask all day long because our hair is perpetually dry and would be unmanageable without a deep conditioning treatment once a week. But the problem is finding products that are actually formulated to benefit our hair type.

Girls with curly hair have it hard enough since most conventional products are designed for straight, silky textured hair. But add some kinks and it’s a whole other story. Since our hair is extremely textured, the key to keeping our hair moisturized is butter and oils. We adore the Yarok’s cruelty-free and green line overall because the products are formulated for girls with curls. But the Feed Your Moisture Conditioning Mask steals the cake. We use this twice a week and love the smooth texture and soothing smell of rose, sandalwood and lavender. Definitely check out the entire range. 3% of all profits go directly to benefiting Pachamama Alliance and protecting over 10 million acres of Amazon Rainforest. Isn’t that amazing?

9. Epiqual Toothbrush in White

Not many people consider investing in a beautiful toothbrush. But here’s the thing: most of us leave our toothbrush out on the counter or vanity, so essentially, it’s a piece of decor in your bathroom, right? Right. This is why we searched and searched for a minimal, modern, and most importantly, white toothbrush that wouldn’t be an eye sore on our countertop. So glad to say we found exactly that. Arguably the most beautiful toothbrush ever designed, Epiqual’s Toothbrushes are functional as they are gorgeous. The fact that you can buy a four-pack of replacement brush heads is great because, well, germs. There are even different types of bristles you can get – general, sensitive and charcoal. Love, love, love this company.

10. Terra Luna Beauty Nectar Instant Foaming Cleanser

Foam cleansers are usually not our favorite, but this cleanser is making us rethink our MO. First of all it has the most luxurious lather and soothing scent. On top of that, we really feel that it does a great job of unclogging our pores and removing all the excess oil and dirt without stripping our skin of its necessary oils.

There more good news too: this cleanser is soap-free, oil-free, fragrance-free and, of course, cruelty-free. Perfect for all skin types and especially ideal for combination or sensitive skin. But perhaps the best part is that a portion of all Terra Luna profits are donated to animal rescues.
