We Just Got A New Couch And We’re Kind Of Obsessed With It
And no, it doesn't cost a ba-gillion dollars
It may sound a little crazy, but we’ve moved ten times in the last ten years. What can we say? We’re nomads at heart. There’s just something about the thrill of living in a new place, the fresh paint on the walls, new neighbors, new vibes. And we also love that each time we move we get a chance to shed some of our things, which, as minimalists, is always so refreshing. There is one part we hate though: moving the couch and bed! So annoying, because yes, we physically move everything ourselves.
The good news is there’s a furniture company called Burrow who has pretty much solved our entire dilemma. If you haven’t heard of them, Burrow is a company that makes high-quality, chemical-free, super comfortable couches that are basically perfect for all-night Netflix binges and anyone else who moves house anywhere near as often as we do.
Our Burrow sofa (three-seater in Crushed Gravel) came in four compact boxes and the set up is so easy, it legit only took about fifteen minutes (with no help), the bulk of that time unpacking all the parts. Seriously, you don’t even need any tools. This is, by far, the easiest piece of furniture we’ve ever had to assemble. The main pieces, the seats and the back, are all preassembled so all you need to do is align the parts, lock them in place and screw on the feet. Because of its collapsible, modular design, the frame is also very versatile; you can add or subtract seats as you wish. And when it comes time to disassemble (for us that should be approximately twelve months), it’ll be so easy and not at all time consuming.
Direct to you
If you’ve heard of the “mattress in a box” direct-to-consumer companies like Helix, Casper, or Tuft & Needle, then the concept of a “couch in a box” will be nothing new to you. Burrow takes this same idea – skipping over the middle man – to give you a great sofa that’s made ethically, from the finest materials, and sold without traditional markups. This way they are able to give you a luxury couch and superior online buying experience for literally a fraction of comparable high-end retailers like West Elm and Crate & Barrel.
So no, you don’t have to settle for lower-quality furniture that you have to spend hours putting together yourself just to get a piece that won’t make you late on next month’s rent. You can just order from Burrow and have your new sofa delivered for free. We love supporting companies that value transparency and respect their customer’s right to know the integrity (or lack thereof) behind what they are purchasing.
Besides being beautiful and minimalist, the Burrow couches, which were, BTW, designed by award-winning furniture designer, Leah Amick, are also very practical. As we always say, luxury comes down to the small details. The Burrow sofa also has a hidden USB port/power plug. So convenient. (Comment below if you know the struggle of trying to move your couch closer to the wall so you can charge your phone before it shuts off.) And of course it’s pet-friendly, which can be a deal breaker for us since we have two furry kitties who love to scratch and shed. Burrow uses a stain-resistant fabric that’s also removable so it can be easily cleaned. Oh, and their packaging is even made from recycled materials. They honestly thought of everything.
Guys, we seriously love this couch and we think anyone who’s in the market for a new sofa should definitely consider trying one out. Special thanks to Alex and Russell for gifting us our beautiful Burrow sofa! You’re awesome 🙂
