Question: Do You Take Any Beauty Supplements?
Yes, no, maybe so?
Is it weird to have better skin at twenty-six than you did at sixteen? Because, not to brag, but we do. Given the fact that for all of our teen years, we suffered with a full face of acne and extremely oily skin, having better skin in our twenties doesn’t seem that much of a difficult feat. But we’re not talking just breakouts and clear skin. We swear, our skin has never looked more firm, more supple, more glowy, just healthier all around than it does now. And even though our diet has improved tremendously since high school, we have to credit the health of our skin partly to the impeccable regimen we’ve dedicated ourselves to.
Also one more thing, which is actually pretty new to us: supplements. Okay, full disclosure: we had never taken any beauty supplements before trying out the Pure MSM Beauty Supplements from Oskia London. But we thought, why not, and went into the whole thing with an open mind and our expectations low. So what happened? After taking the supplements for about a month – there’s 45 capsules per jar – there was a clear, visible difference in the texture and tone of our skin. Not even exaggerating. If you’ve never heard of it before, MSM is the natural – also the purest – form of organic Sulphur. It’s an essential mineral that promotes the regeneration of cells, boosts keratin and collagen production, and promotes even skin tone.
In all honesty, it might have something to do with the other products from Oskia’s line that we’ve been trying out because they are so good. But first, cool fact? Oskia was founded by Georgie Cleeve, a former food journalist (who also happens to be super beautiful), which explains why all of their products are grounded in a nutritional approach. Their name, ‘Oskia’ is actually derived from the Ancient Greek for ‘delivering beauty’ and ‘nutrition’, which is exactly what their products do. And the thing is, as twenty-six-year-olds, and also as bloggers whose job it is to try out and recommend only the best skincare products, our standards are really high. We don’t just want a product that looks and smells good. Those things are great and are definitely a requirement, but what really matters is if a product or supplement actually does what it says it will. That means ingredients really matter. We want to know what we’re putting on our skin actually will be improving the health of our skin, so the more vitamins, nutrients, omegas and proteins, the better.
Oksia’s products are packed with nutrients and actives (Vitamins A, E and C, Omegas 3, 6 and 9, Magnesium, Zinc, just to name a few), and not only that, but the ingredients actually get to penetrate your skin thanks to their bio nutritional technology. You probably don’t think of it much, but there are a lot of products out there that claim to do some amazing things for your skin and do have very marketable ingredients in them, however half of the time these ingredients are there for one reason only: to suck you into buying the product. These products usually only contain trace amounts of said ingredients that, in reality, won’t do much for your skin. With Oskia’s products, you get the most for your money – nutrition-based products that work on a cellular level. And BTW, all of Oskia’s products are totally free from artificial fragrances, colorants, silicones, parabens, sulphates and proplylene glycol. Can it get any better than that?
Other favorites from the line
If you go on YouTube you’ll find nothing but rave reviews about their Renaissance Cleansing Gel, and with good reason. The smell is fresh and floral, which you know we love – rose, passion fruit and chamomile. It’s a gel-to-oil cleansers that literally melts into your skin once you combine it with water.
Our absolute favorite from the line is the Micro Exfoliating Balm, though. It’s not like any other scrub we’ve tried before. It feels like more of a cream than anything else when you massage it into your skin. The magic is in the ingredients. The Silica and MSM granules are gentle as they buff away dead skin cells and unclog your pores while the Omegas help replenish the lipid barrier of your skin. And then there’s Vitamin A from Rosehip oil that works to encourage collagen production.
By the way, their Super 16 Serum and CityLife Cleansing Concentrate sound incredible. Best part is that they’re both vegan. We’re dying to try them. So if you have a little extra money to spend, or just want to spoil yourself with a new treat this weekend, definitely give these a try.
